Purpose
Bunbury Baptist College has a uniform standard which states that all students who attend the College will be required to wear the correct College uniform in a neat, clean and well-presented manner. All students are required to wear the uniform in a manner which is a credit to both the student and the College. This is part of the Parent Code of Conduct sighted and agreed upon in your enrolment contract.
This uniform policy is seen as contributing to:
- Improving morale, community spirit and pride in the College.
- Ensuring that students are safely and appropriately dressed for College activities.
- Encouraging equity amongst students and therefore reducing rivalry.
- Identifying non-College students/children who may be visiting the College campus.
- Fostering and enhancing the public image of the College.
Primary School Uniform Requirements
K to Year 6 Uniform (All Year)
The following are to be purchased from the Uniform Store for both girls and boys and to be worn throughout the year:
- Sport Polo Shirt
- Sport Shorts
- Track Suit (top and bottom)
- Wet Weather Jacket (only for outside wear and students do still need to wear the blue zip up jacket underneath)
- Broad Brim Hat
- White Crew Socks (no anklets) and
- Sport Shoes (any combination of blue, white and black only)
- College dress (girls only)
Accessories/Jewellery
No jewellery is allowed except for a watch (no smart watches); and a maximum of one pair of plain stud or small full circle piercing earrings in the lower lobe for girls. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings.
Visible body piercings are not tolerated. Clear/plastic studs in body piercings are not acceptable.
No student is to have any visible tattoos or body art.
Religious representation is not acceptable in uniform policy.
Bags
The College back pack is compulsory. Bags must be kept in good condition with no graffiti. Unsatisfactory bags will need to be replaced.
A Book bag is also available and may be helpful for students to carry books and equipment between classes.
Hair Standards
At all times when the student is in College uniform, hair must appear tidy and well cared for.
Boys
- Hair is to be neat, clean and tidy.
- All hair must be styled conservatively. No mullets or trending sport’s club styles. Extreme styles, hair tattoos and coloured hair are not permitted.
- Hair should not be longer than the top of the collar and no shorter than No. 2.
- Fringes must not be longer than eyebrow level, measured by combing hair forward.
Girls
- Hair is to be kept neat, clean, and tidy and appear well cared for at all times.
- Hair must be kept off the face at all times.
- Hair that is longer than collar length or that hangs in the face must be tied back and pinned.
- All hair must be styled conservatively and extreme or untidy styles are not permitted.
- Hair must be a natural colour. Unnatural colours in extreme streaks, foils or tints or full hair are unacceptable.
- Hair elastic, clips, combs, scrunchies, hair bands and hair accessories should be of an acceptable colour (hair colour, white, blue or black).
Hats
It is compulsory for all students to wear their hat outside the classroom throughout the year. We strongly advise students to wear sunblock when they come to school. Sunblock will be available for outdoor activities at the College and during swimming and athletic competitions.
Non-Uniform/Free-Dress
At times during the College year, students participate in various fund-raising events including Uniform Free Dress days.
On these special days, students are allowed to wear free dress rather than the College Uniform. A gold coin donation is required from each student who chooses to wear free dress. The money will be collected during the morning at their classroom and will be donated to the charitable organisation nominated prior to the day.
The Uniform Free Day regulations are outlined below.
- No short skirts or shorts
- No inappropriate slogans on t-shirts.
- No midriff tops or see-through tops or dresses.
- Students are reminded that they will still require covered shoes for school.
- Students who have Physical Education, Fitness or any other lesson requiring the College Sports Uniform will need to participate effectively in what they are wearing.
- Students who are dressed inappropriately will be sent to Student Services and parents will be contacted to collect their child.
Shoes
Sports shoes should be good quality, supportive joggers, cross trainers or sports shoes (not Vans, Volleys, skate shoes or canvas casual shoes) in any combination of white, blue and black.
Sunglasses
Students may wear sunglasses when outdoors but they are not permitted to wear sunglasses in classrooms or on their heads as decoration.
Uniform Shop
All items of the College uniform are available through Permapleat with the exception of shoes and the House shirt.
Secondary School Uniform Requirements
The following are to be purchased from the Uniform Store for both girls and boys:
Summer – Formal
- Blue short sleeve button shirt
- Charcoal shorts
- Grey Crew socks (no ankle socks)
- Black leather lace up shoes
- A skirt/dress is available for girls as an alternative, if desired, with white crew socks (no ankle socks)
Summer – Sports
- Polo shirt
- Sport shorts
- White Crew Socks (no ankle socks)
- Sport Shoes (any combination of blue, white and black preferred). No skate shoes.
Winter – Formal
- Blue short sleeve button shirt
- Charcoal trousers
- Navy jumper
- Tie (boys/girls)
- Grey Crew socks (no ankle socks)
- Black leather lace up shoes
- A skirt/dress is available for girls if desired, to be worn with black tights
- A softshell spray jacket is available for extra warmth
Winter – Sports
- Polo shirt
- Tracksuit top and trousers
- White Crew Sock (no ankle socks)
- Sport Shoes (any combination of blue, white and black only)
The girls’ skirt/dress should be a suitable length for wearing with the College jumper. Skirt/dress length should be no shorter than the knee-cap. To ensure that the pleats hang correctly, skirts should not be rolled up at the waistband.
When travelling to and from the College, on school days, the correct College uniform must always be worn. This applies to students if travelling by car, public transport, walking or cycling and even when accompanied by parents. Students are not permitted to leave the College in clothes, other than the College uniform e.g. other sports clothes, work uniforms, unless permission has been gained from the Principal. This will only be granted in exceptional circumstances such as work shifts.
Accessories and Jewellery

Facial piercings are not tolerated.

Make-Up and Nail Polish
Make-up is not permitted; however, a gentle layer of cover for blemishes is allowed.
Make-up is not to be worn at any College functions during which students are in College uniform e.g. photo days, graduations, award concerts.
All nails must be natural and be of a length and shape that allows students to engage in all aspects of the College curriculum. No acrylic or gel nails are permitted. Students will be sent home to have them removed. Nail polish is not to be worn.
Bags

Students who need to bring a non-school bag for after-school sporting activities should leave the bag in their locker before school commences in the morning and pick it up from there after school finishes.

- College shoes must be black leather lace-ups (not flat lace-up ballet pumps) with heels no higher than 20mm. These leather shoes must offer protection during activities in subjects such as Science, Materials and Food Technology. Thin or non-supportive shoes are therefore unsuitable.
- Shoes are to be kept polished and in good repair.
- Sports shoes should be good quality, supportive joggers, cross trainers or sports shoes (not Vans, Volleys, skate shoes or canvas casual shoes) in any combination of blue, black or white only.
Sunglasses
Students may wear sunglasses when outdoors but they are not permitted to wear sunglasses in classrooms or on their heads as decoration.
Undergarments
Female students are not permitted to wear bright coloured undergarments that show through their College shirt.

Non-Uniform/Free-Dress Day Standards

- Students who have Physical Education or any other lesson requiring the College Sports Uniform will need to bring their normal Sports Uniform and change at the appropriate time.
Students who are dressed inappropriately will be sent to Student Services and parents will be contacted.
